At Mubende Hospital, a total of 35 medical interns (including Doctors, Nurses and Pharmacists have been affected by lack of transport means. The interns body says they stay far from the hospital and have been unable to report to their duty stations due to the ban of public transport.

Maria Nalunkuuma, a resident of Kyamulibwa Sub County in Kalungu district says she was referred to Masaka Hospital to undergo a Hernia operation but has failed to get affordable transport means to take them home. Nalunkuuma, who was discharged on Wednesday needs at least 200,000 Shillings to hire a private vehicle back home.

Amnesty International Welcomes Court Decision on Public Order Law

The court yesterday declared Section 8 of Uganda’s Public Order Management Act illegal and unconstitutional. The section gave the Inspector General of Police powers to prevent or stop public gatherings and equally gave the police powers to disperse public gatherings.
