Nominations for Kagoma By-elections Kick off kagoma by elections 1 1

Nominations for Kagoma County parliamentary by-elections have kicked off today at Kagoma County headquarters in Jinja district. The seat fell vacant in March this year after the Court of Appeal nullified the election of Moses Walyomu for voter bribery. Walyomu had been declared winner of the February 18, 2016 election for Kagoma County with 16,391 votes, followed by Kintu who garnered 14,244.

Lawyer Sues Lango Paramount Chief for Holding 'Illegal Office'

In his suit filed at the Constitutional Court, lawyer Krispus Ayena Odongo says the current Wonyaci, Yosam Odur does not derive allegiance by the fact of his birth or descent in accordance with the customs, traditions, usage or consent of the people of Lango. He says this is inconsistent with Article 246 6 of the constitution of Uganda and the Institution of Traditional or Cultural Leaders Act, 2011.

Ugandan Fishermen Released From DRC lake albert

Geoffrey Komakech, the Buseruka sub county LC V councilor led a seven man delegation to engage Congolese authorities over the abduction of the fishermen. Komakech told URN on phone this morning that the four fishermen were released on Saturday evening unconditionally after a series of meetings between his team, local authorities in Bunia and the fisheries department at Jo and Kisinyi landing sites in DRC.
