Police spokesperson Asan Kasingye has denied reports that the 13 suspects in the brutal murder of Andrew Felix Kaweesi were tortured while in custody at the Nalufenya Special Investigations Centre.
Lawyers representing the Pepper Publications Limited, a company that owns The Red Pepper say they will appeal judgment in which court awarded 425 million Shillings to retired Chief Justice Samuel William Wako Wambuzi in defamation damages.
Chief Justice Bart Katureebe has appointed Supreme Court judge, Justice Eldad Mwangusya to head Judiciary Internal Disciplinary Committee. Mwangusya replaces Justice Faith Mwondha who has been heading the committee for the past three years. In an internal memo dated May 4th and signed by Chief Registrar Paul Gadenya, the chief justice also appointed Supreme Court justice, Stella Arach-Amoko as the head of Judicial Training Committee replacing Justice Esther Kisakye.

Japan has provided 55 billion shillings to the Government of Uganda for rural water supply in eastern Uganda. The grant will provide water supply facilities to nine rural growth centres in five districts of Pallisa, Luuka, Kibuku, Iganga and Serere.
State Minister for Economic Planning, David Bahati, says he is pushing for reforms to reduce procurement process to 90 days. Bahati said that before he became a minister he had pushed for amendments to cap the procurement process but he was fought off by bureaucrats.
