Bible Society Applauds Gov't Move to Stop Bible Tax tax on bibles 2 1

Simon Peter Mukhama, the Secretary-General of the Bible Society of Uganda told a general assembly held in Kampala today that they vigorously opposed the Value Added Tax which had been proposed on bibles that had been imported from China and South Korea. As a result, bible consignments have been withheld for the last three months.

The soldier is identified as Ambrose Omia, a resident of Anwangi village, Kwera Sub County in Dokolo district. He is reported to have killed his son by strangling and subsequently buried him in a nearby bush.

Police Blocks First Meeting of Rival Lango Chief uganda police force 1

The first meeting of the council of clan chiefs loyal to the rival Lango cultural leader is hanging imbalance after police at North Kyoga regional headquarters declined to grant them permission. The meeting slated for Saturday was to be held at the Cultural Centre in Lira town. Engineer Dr. Michael Odongo Okune, who was recently sworn-in as the paramount chief of Lango, was to use the meeting to deliver his first address to a section of clan chiefs loyal to him.

Rwenzururu Throne Claimant Gets UPDF Protection rwenzori conflicts

A claimant to the Rwenzururu Kingdom throne has been allocated armed protection from the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces UPDF, raising eyebrows over the fate of Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere. Robert Tibamwenda has also been introduced, at least twice, as the king of the Bakonzo at public functions in the last five months. Since November 2016, Mumbere has not stepped in Kasese or any part of his kingdom after he was arrested during a military raid on his palace.
