Writing a chapter in a recently published book on Uganda’s oil sector, Dr Badru Bukenya, an academic at Makerere University and Jaqueline Nakayiza, an independent researcher, observed that “within Uganda’s oil sector, informal institutions and arrangements tend to prevail over rules-based approaches.”

The 70th graduation ceremony which is scheduled to start on Tuesday, January 14 has suffered a major setback arising out of the delayed issuance of graduation gowns to the graduands. Only 7,000 out of more than 13,000 graduands have so far been able to secure gowns, as the ceremonies draw closer.
Initial reports indicated that Armed rustlers suspected to have crossed from Kotido district on Friday night raided kiloko itiyo village in Loperebong Sub County and Matakula village in Omiya Pacwa Sub-county and looted 11 animals from local farmers.
