According to Kabango, Amuru district has 86 non-complaint pastoralists, which is the highest in the Acholi sub-region, followed by Pader, 45, Gulu 44, Nwoya 37, and Lamwo with 5 non-complaint pastoralists, who are collectively rearing 2,700 cattle.
Speaking during a meeting to release the recommendations on the implementation of Executive Order Number 3 on Saturday, Tino noted that the claimants, especially in Omoro are tired of waiting for the compensation money, and worried that many might die before receiving the compensation
This is the second time the president has adjusted the deadline to evict the pastoralists. On May 19th, 2023 Museveni issued Executive Order Number 3 of 2023 banning cattle keeping in northern Uganda by June 30th, saying some of the pastoralists were disrespectful and leaving their animals to graze in people’s gardens, hence causing food insecurity.
