HIV Test and Treat Approach Cuts Mortality Risk by Two-Thirds- Study unaids report 2012

Over 12-months of follow-up, individuals who started antiretrovirals within 30 days of their diagnosis had a 63 percent reduction in their mortality risk compared to people who remained antiretroviral-naive. Delayed treatment initiation after 30 days of diagnosis also reduced mortality, but only by 26 percent.

WHO observes that misuse of antibiotics in animals and humans is contributing to the rising threat of antibiotic resistance. Some types of bacteria that cause serious infections in humans have already developed resistance to most or all of the available treatments, and there are very few promising options in the research pipeline.
