The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs Patrick Mugoya has said that there will not be evacuation of Ugandans stranded abroad despite ongoing registration.
In a statement on Tuesday, Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) said “used footwear and used textiles that as a precautionary measure, the importation of these commodities has been suspended with immediate effect until further notice.”
Speaking at the handover of the ambulance, Joe Orech, the Acting Coordinator International Rescue Committee, said the Ambulance will ease movement of the Task Force to respond to emergencies. According to Orech, International Rescue Committee will pay the driver, provide fuel and service the ambulance.
It is still unclear how the children picked the explosives from Andewa quarry site without being noticed by security and company workers. According to a source, the children had connected one of the explosives to a solar battery when it exploded into flames injuring all of them.
