A report prepared by police and local leaders from different health facilities across the district indicates that 5,375 cases were registered from January 2020 up to September 2021.
The labs that include City Medicals, Case Medical Centre, and Medipal Hospital are each demanding a refund of USD 18,000 (65 million Shillings), from the hotel through its agent, Fremax Property Services and Management Ltd. The three laboratories allegedly paid a security deposit of USD 4,500 and USD 13,500 as rent for the months of September, October, and November 2021.
Muzeyi Faizo, Head of Media and Communications at UPC, reasons that most of higher learning institutions’ students are privately sponsored, they utilize morning hours to work, that is why there is need to revisit the curfew hours to enable them look for resources to finance their education, balance work and studies as well as decongesting classes.
According to statistics from the district Probation office, the cases were registered between January 2020 and June 2021 after the first lockdown was announced by President Museveni following the outbreak of COVID-19.
Some food is also lost on farms and in supply chains, indicating that overall a third of food is never eaten, with households discarding 11 per cent of food at the consumption stage of the supply chain, while food services and retail outlets waste five and two per cent, respectively.
