The boat ambulance was provided to largely evacuate patients from the Islands of Kisiima I, Kisiima II, Rwabitooke and other small islands scattered along parts of Lake Victoria in Jinja district. The boat will also support rescue operations of fishermen and other water transport users in Lake Victoria and River Nile respectively.
Kadaga, who was speaking at the launch of the distribution of government face masks in Kamuli district on Saturday said that most communities have abandoned the presidential directives on social distancing and handwashing, putting them at a higher risk of contracting COVID-19 in case of an outbreak.
“In Uganda, the only competent authority that can give permission for the entry and use of medicines in the country or oversee the testing of any medicine is the National Drug Authority. To our knowledge not any such testing, scrutiny or oversight of the medicine the speaker talked about has been undertaken by the National Drug Authority,” the statement adds.
The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga issued the directive after the Presidency Minister, Esther Mbayo, failed to state how much money government requires to fulfill President Yoweri Museveni’s pledge to supply free sanitary pads to primary school girls.
Speaking at the celebrations of the World Heart Day in Jinja district on Friday, Kadaga says that, some schools have limited space where pupils can hardly carry out physical exercises which has left them lazy and prone to heart diseases.
Rebecca Kadaga, the Speaker of Parliament, who launched the facility on behalf of President, Yoweri Museveni, warned young girls against leading reckless lives that can lead them to get fistula.
