While officially launching the campaign at the Kasana-Luweero Catholic diocese headquarters, Fr. Muheezangango, said that they have managed to secure among others 827kgs of Chloris Gayana grass seeds for distribution to the farmers in the cattle corridor.
Deo Kabaalu, a wetlands officer in the Ministry of Water and Environment in charge of the Eastern region said during the activity which started on Wednesday that government intends to reclaim over 1900 hectares of wetland that has been encroached by rice farmers.
Geoffrey Ocen, the District LCV chairperson says over 65% of the entire road network in the district has been affected by the floods. Adding that their attempts to fix it has been futile since the water levels keeps rising.
