Rogers Taitika, the Sebei Region Police Spokesperson, says that the driver of the Isuzu Anthony Kiplengati failed to negotiate a corner and rammed into a house killing Wambuti and injuring his 4-year-old sister Juma Devika.
James Masuba, another resident, says with the bad roads in Bumasobo, it’s expensive to use vehicles, saying this affects their returns at the end of the day. He says motorists are charging them highly compared to donkeys. He however, decried the low speed at which donkeys move.
The program also involves providing avenues to empower girls through a network of peer mentors. Harriet Mudondo, the Director Gender, Community and Production says they have trained over 300 mentors to deal with the girls.
Kyambadde attributed the failure of government projects to lack of lack of proper planning by government and implementers. She also noted that even private projects initiated by politicians including Members of Parliament and local leaders have failed to take off while those that manage to start don’t live to expectation.
