Jim Kabeho, the chairman of the Uganda Sugar Manufacturers Association (USMA) said they had not shipped any sugar to Tanzania at the moment despite reports that deal had been reached with Uganda government for them to export.
With this position, Uganda trails neighbours Rwanda at 37th position, Kenya (102nd) and Tanzania (93rd). Kenya and Rwanda improved by three places each while Tanzania stayed in the same position as last year. Burundi and South Sudan were not ranked.
The loan request comes weeks after the Speaker, Rebecca Kadaga blocked a government proposal to borrow US$119 Million (approximately Shillings 440.6 billion) to upgrade three oil road projects over government's failure to get a loan to finance the Jinja-Kampala Expressway.
