According to Longole, the suspect had been picked up from Kangole town council for attempted rape. "While at Kangole Police station one of our officers said he knew the suspect and that he wouldn’t but shortly after, the suspect jumped and grabbed a gun from the officer and took off," he explained.
According to Barnabas Rugyenda, an enforcement officer in Kalungu attached to the district veterinary office, the impounded cattle were being transported from Tanzania to Kampala through Kalungu district despite the livestock quarantine which was recently placed on most parts of the cattle corridor districts following the outbreak of foot and mouth disease (FMD).
