Local leaders in Kotido say that the residents have evacuated their homes and moved to sother sub counties to live with relatives, friends or in-laws for fear of being subjected to forceful disarmament that is currently on going in the sub region. Others have taken refuge in Kotido town, leaving only the elderly, the disabled and local council officials in the villages.
One of the pump attendants explained that smaller car owners no longer want to fuel in the fuel stations opting for cheaper fuel from the mobile dealers.
Anatolie Muleterwa, the Head of Community Policing said that it is time for the LCs to revive the registers to enable them to know the residents in their areas as well as profile them in a bid to weed out the wrong elements.
