Meanwhile, the National Water and Sewerage Corporation, the countrys water supply and sanitation company has asked Kampala residents to use water sparingly as a result of power outage. This communication was made through their twitter nwscug.
Dr Rukuunya says the court that currently sits only in Kampala, will try various fisheries crimes like illegal fishing methods, use of illegal fishing gear, catching and trading in undersized fish, pollution of lakes and other related crimes.
Dr Tabu Munyaho, the Director of Research at National Fisheries Resources Research Institute, says that the idea is to allow Nile Perch grow for at least two years, a period within which a fish would have grown up to 50 centimetres or beyond. He explains that within a year, the Nile Perch grows to between 24 and 34 centimetres, doubling that within another year, adding that it is then that the fish becomes so valuable in food and monetary terms.
Kenneth Kaheru, the Director Aswa River Energy Project, says he has no choice but to review how manual laborers are being recruited to work at the power station, adding that his Company will thereafter strengthen its grievance handling mechanism to protect aggrieved workers.
