Rose Namusisi, a businesswoman in Kalerwe dealing in tomatoes, onions, carrots and green pepper, says that the demand for tomatoes in Kenya and South Sudan has forced prices in Uganda to shoot up. Currently, a box of tomatoes costs between Shillings 380 000 – 420 000.
Not a single youth in Aduku Town Council has benefited from the fund, according to a report by the Aduku Town Council Gender and Community sector. The report indicates that most of the youths in the town council have shunned the program.
Nyanjura, told council mid this week that KCCA officials changed market leadership over weekends without engaging many vendors while in some cases, engaged a few vendors and appointed them to positions of leadership without following democratic procedures like an election.
During her visit to the market in Friday, the Local Government State Minister, Jenifer Namuyangu asked the contractors to use the extra two more months to complete the market so that the vendors can use it.
In May 2018, Alebtong district received Shillings 1 billion from the World Bank for the upgrade of the two Health Center to HCIII's under the Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfer Program for Results- IFTPR, intended to improve health service delivery to the community. The district contracted Otada Holdings Company Limited to undertake the works.
