Both Otto and Anywar are among some of the longest-serving legislators in Acholi Sub-region who suffered a heavy defeat in the hands of their opponents as they made attempts to seal their parliamentary bids for the fifth and fourth terms respectively.
The investigation is being headed by the Commissioner of Police Francis Olugu, who is overseeing electoral ffences in Acholi Sub-region. It stems from a complaint raised by incumbent Lamwo District Woman Legislator Molly Lanyero.

Kitgum Resident District Commissioner, William Komakech, said it’s the responsibility of the South Sudan government to ensure that the suspects are prosecuted but reiterated that handing over guns intercepted in a sovereign state is illegal. “We have done our part in capturing; detaining and now we have handed over the culprits back to you. It’s up to you to prosecute them or let them go free,” said Komakech.
Two of the suspects were arrested from Palabek Ogili sub-county in Lamwo district armed with two guns and grenades while 13 were apprehended in Orom sub-county Sub-county in Kitgum district armed with five guns.
