Nalubega ran to court challenging Kinyamatama’s nomination by the Electoral Commission on grounds that she was not a registered voter anywhere in Uganda, which disqualifies her from being nominated and subsequent election for any elective position.
According to documents before the court, the legislator reportedly borrowed Shillings 13 million on polling on February 16th, 2016 to facilitate his polling agents and supervisors and another Shillings 5 million on February 19th, 216 for his victory party after winning the polls.
Mukasa Julius Opondo the Bujumba County MP is alleged to have borrowed 13 million shillings from Lwanga Leon Lumaga to boost his campaigns in 2016 General Elections. He borrowed an additional five million shillings to throw a party for his supporters after winning.
Munyagwa, who is largely known for his comical character, lost the seat to Journalist Bashir Kazibwe of the National Unity Platform-NUP. According to the breakdown president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni garnered 264 votes, followed by Dr. Kizza Besigye, Abeid Bwanika, Joseph Mabirizi and Maureen Faith Kyalya Waluube who got two votes each, John Patrick Amama Mbabazi one vote while Prof. Venansius Baryamureeb and the late General. Benon Buta Biraaro got zero votes.
