“Due to the increasing threat of the CORONA virus in Uganda, effective Wednesday March 25th 2020 to April 9th 2020, the Economic Policy Research Centre Staff members will continue working online from their homes,” said EPRC management.
The proposed staff recruitment comes a few hours after Health Minister; Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng confirmed eight new Coronavirus cases sending panic among the population. According to Dr. Aceng, all the eight cases are Ugandan nationals who travelled back from Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Regular hand washing has been highlighted as a key tool in combating the disease which has claimed 16,568 deaths mainly in Italy, China and Spain. Spreading like wildfire, the disease is devastating communities, and forcing governments to enforce stringent restrictions, especially on the movement of people. Uganda has so far recorded nine cases of COVID-19.
