In an update through the Anti-corruption tweeter handle on what transpired in the meeting that was convened to harmonize on how students and citizens will be refunded their money, Nakalema has directed that companies that extorted money refund it within seven days.
The refugees say that the cut in food aid ration to them by the World Food Program -WFP in April has negatively impacted their livelihoods and left most of them helplessly surviving on one meal a day.
The WFP in April 2020 announced a 30% reduction in the relief food ration it distributes to refugees and asylum seekers, in Uganda. It also warned that further cuts could follow.
Dr Edward Muwanga, the Kyotera District Health Officer, says that they are eagerly waiting for the supplies given the increasing number of COVID cases. As of Monday, the district had 388 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
