The city registered 5,593 candidates to sit for this year’s Mock exams in both public and private primary schools in Lira. But according to the results released on Friday, 8.24 per cent of them failed the exams.
In the aftermath, the learners were all sent home and ordered to return after a week, accompanied by their parents. Now the school administration has announced that after costing the damaged properties, they concluded that each learner should pay a sum of 50,000 Shillings to cater for the cost of repairs and replacements.
Christine Ayo, a literature teacher at Comboni College, says that she last received a salary in January 2022 and ever since then, life has not been easy. She says that she has been struggling to support her family and transport herself to her workstation, which is 6kms away.
