Led by the NUP party Coordinator in Tooro, Innocent Natukunda, the leaders said that the subsequent arrests and shooting of those who were protesting Kyagulanyi’s arrest in several parts of the country were illegal acts.
Trouble for Amuriat started when his entourage from Kitgum District dodged security to address a rally in neighbouring Omoro District where he was instead expected on Thursday. Earlier, he addressed a rally in Kitgum on a day he was expected to be in Lamwo.
Moses Kakiryo, the Busia District Police Commander-DPC, says Abdullah Tiff, who also doubles at the NUP Coordinator in Busia district, was found with several others using a public address system to insight people in Mawero village to rise up and protest Kyagulanyi’s arrest.

According to Brig. Gen. Flavior Byekwaso, the Army spokesperson, the brigade is simply meant to beef up security in Kyotera especially Mutukula, Rakai and parts of Isingiro districts which share a borderline with Tanzania.
