According to Twine, suspects are mostly foreigners from the Democratic Republic of Congo-DRC (5), Cameroon, (2) Nigerians and (1) Ugandan. The Congolese came to Uganda as refugees. During the operation, police also recovered brass rods, powder and fake gold and different oils.
According to preliminary information, police found the deceased partying together with others at Kanyipe trading center on the orders of the village chairperson, Simon Okolong. The chairperson allegedly ordered his residents to drink and dance overnight at will.
Grace Nachap, one of the residents says security personnel forced her into the coldness together with her child. "It was around 4 am when I was trying to open my door to come and help myself; I saw soldiers and police deployed around every house. I was ordered to get back inside my houses I got confused because I didn't know what was happening," she said.
