“As leaders we however condemn acts of mob justice, we are calling on government to increase security in this village and other neighboring areas," Happy added. "People here tell me that they have resorted to sharing housing with animals to save them from being stolen."
The policy was formulated in partnership with Makerere University Gender Mainstreaming Directorate with financial support from UN Women, under the Safer Universities Project launched in 2019 in response to the call under the European Union and United Nation spotlight initiative on eliminating all forms of violence against women and girls.
“Police detectives at Katwe Police station who visited the scene said the liquid splashed on him burning him and the clothes he was dressed in. But the victim ran out to Makindye medical center close to the scene before he was rushed to Nsambya hospital,” he said.
Stephen Odong Latek, the Gulu Resident District Commissioner, says the herdsmen were transporting 132 cattle into the district without any valid identification.
