Uganda has rejected the European Parliament resolution taking stock of the human rights violations during and after elections calling it blanket accusations.
The agency cited wanton killings by security forces, arrests and beatings of opposition supporters and journalists, disruption of opposition rallies, and a shutdown of the internet as major setbacks in the pursuit of democracy and the rule of law.
The university has been the theatre of violence and the use of excessive force by law enforcement agencies, as students challenged a 15 per cent cumulative increment on tuition and functional fees. The increment, which started this academic year, will affect all first-year students, for the next five years.
