Wakabi, who is in custody at Kiira North Central police station reportedly delivered the deceased’s body to her parent's home in Kagoma central village in Buwenge town council in Jinja district on Thursday night.
On Wednesday afternoon, Boda-boda riders mounted another search and recovered the deceased’s motorcycle from the house belonging to Robert Isingoma in Kyabasara village in Kimbugu parish in Kabwoya Sub County.
As Sarah started working on Hafasimaana, she started bleeding profusely leading to her death. Her newly born baby also died minutes later. Some of the residents immediately informed Lillian Ruteraho, the Kagadi Resident District Commissioner-RDC about the incident prompting her to swing into action leading to Sarah’s arrest.
Epitu Gadi, the Kaabong District Deputy Resident District Commissioner revealed that the people killed were either investigating the rustlers or those who have reported to the authorities about the raids of their cattle.
An official at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital told URN on condition of anonymity that there are often between 3 to 4 unclaimed bodies at the facility each month. Dr. David Tibwamanya, the Principal Administrator Gulu Regional Referral Hospital, says that always hand such bodies to Gulu City Council after waiting for their relatives to claim them in vain.
Richard Okongo, a resident of Copil village told Uganda Radio Network that the suspect picked a quarrel with the deceased on Tuesday evening. He claims that later in the night, Odong locked up his father in his grass-thatched house and torched it before disappearing.
Joseph Lyagoba, a resident of the area says that they were shocked to learn about the incident since Waiswa was known for cherishing his family. “It is hard for me to believe what just befell us, Waiswa was an exemplary husband who would even leave the trading center much earlier than anyone of us because he always wanted to spend more time with his children,” he said.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police spokesperson told Uganda Radio Network on Monday that 27 out of the 42 suspects were released on police bond over the weekend as per the advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions-DPP.
The deceased’s nephew, Hajji Siraji Gusongweire, who also doubles as the Namutumba District National Resistance Movement-NRM Chairperson, says his uncle was admitted two months ago with cardiac-related illness.
Iddi Magezi, the Bwikya Ward Councilor says some people approached Kwaligonza recently and connected power to her house, which they have been using to trap grasshoppers. He suspects that they could have connected the electricity wrongly.
According to Dr. Kwikiriza, the deceased’s was transferred to Hoima Regional Referral Hospital Covid-19 Treatment Unit on August 7, 2020 when his condition deteriorated. He says samples were picked from the deceased and taken to Uganda Virus Research Institute Entebbe on August 8, 2020 for testing.
Mutyabule 24, met his death in Mabira forest, along the Kampala-Jinja highway on Saturday. He was part of a procession that was escorting Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu to Kampala after being hosted at a radio talk show in Jinja.
