The lower primary classes were scheduled to return today, just a week after the return of the senior two class, the last group in the secondary category to return to school. The Senior One class returned in April and was yet to complete the school term. However, according to the President, the schools need to close for at least 42-days, effective today.
The office of the Speaker has been occupied for the past 10-years by the former Speaker Rebecca Kadaga. However, she lost the seat to her former deputy and Omoro County MP Jacob Oulanyah in a vote held at the beginning of the eleventh parliament last month.
But according to Makerere University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, the final year students had already started their final examinations by the time of the presidential declaration and are expected to return home immediately after their last paper. Examinations at Makerere University for final year students have been running since May 24, 202.
Bwiire said Magogo was the only candidate that returned the nomination forms with all the requirements as per the FUFA Electoral code of 2012, therefore he is the only duly nominated candidate for the position of FUFA President.
“We haven’t arrested any suspect, but we simply identified few persons of interest to give us more information based on their knowledge about this incident, and we recorded their statement, and we don’t consider them as suspects, so the speculations should stop. Said Enanga.
As early as 7;00 a.m. parents had started arriving at different schools. However, they were all worried about the abrupt closure of schools by the government with the majority expressing concerns over school fees that they have just paid.
