The government announced plans to close more than 200 illegal landing sites on the shores of Lake Albert in the districts of Hoima, Kikuube and Buliisa. According to the government, the landing sites are facilitating the illegal entry and exit of Congolese Nationals into the country, many of whom have settled on the sites without any control.

Fuel Transporters Want Separate Space to Park Trucks 1

Uganda Transport Agencies Limited, the company transporting fuel for Vivo Energy, this week wrote to the minister of Works Katumba Wamala requesting separate spaces, indicating it was a safety hazard to just park in the same. Currently, all trucks are allowed to park in Mukono RVR Kyetume and Namboole stadium.

In a note to staff on Friday, UCU vice-chancellor Rev. Canon. Dr. John Senyonyi said the circumstances had made it impossible to continue paying staff normally. He said that the closure of the university since March 20, 2020, means they can’t collect fees from students, a key source of income for the university.
