According to Sheikh Juma Bakhit Cucu, the Secretary for Education at UMSC, a thorough examination of documents by his department has revealed that Mariam High is one of the schools owned by the council but has been taken over by several individuals under dubious or illegal circumstances.

The Archbishop also appealed to Ugandans to desist from immoral and hateful acts like murder, land grabbing, corruption, abortion, and others. He said that these should not continue in the New Year and appealed for sanity.
Emphasizing that, according to Catholic doctrine, marriage constitutes the union between one man and a female, Archbishop Ssemogerere underscored that the Church unequivocally prohibits and has not sanctioned the blessing of any alternative unions.
“A restraining order is made stopping further execution and or implementation of orders of this honorable court in the company cause No.002/2023 pending the service and hearing of the misc. application No. 307/2023 and 306/2023 (both arising from company cause No. 02/2023) interparty,” the order reads in part.
The pro-Mubaje faction at old Kampala is questioning the constitutionality of the Special session held to suspend him from office. It plans to appeal the order issued by Justice Faridah Shamilah Bukirwa Ntambi of the Jinja High Court.
“We have learnt that the property comprised in Lease Hold Register Volume 2771 Folio 2, OId Kampala Plot 23-25 is a subject of a caveat and contentious. This is to humbly inform the Court that the above property comprised in Lease Hold Register Volume 2771Folio 2, Old Kampala Plot, 23-25 hereby ceases to be part of the properties under attachment and execution, and the same shall not be auctioned,” the letter reads in part.

He further noted that if the recommendations necessitate amendments to the constitution of the Church of Uganda, they will be appropriately addressed
Dr. Ssemogerere, who took over leadership of the archdiocese last year, initially chose to retain the existing roles and responsibilities of all current priests, following the structure established by his predecessor, Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga.
In a turn of events, the House of Bishops of the Church of Uganda has decided to defer the election of the next Bishop of Namirembe Diocese. The postponement comes with an announcement that the nomination process is still ongoing and, as such, a final decision has not yet been reached.
The late Archbishop Lwanga, recognizing the reduced foreign support and aiming for a self-sustaining archdiocese, began the initiative in 2007 to assist the clergy and select projects. The first appeal was utilized to renovate Lubaga Cathedral, which was in a state of disrepair.
Canon 903 indicates that a priest can be permitted to celebrate even if the rector of the church, or area, does not know him, provided that either he presents a letter of introduction from his ordinary or superior, issued at least within the year, or it can be judged prudently that he is not impeded from celebrating.
