Parliament on Thursday asked Foreign Affairs Ambassador James Mugume to explain claims of discontent among staff at the ministry. In August 2011, the Foreign Affairs Parliamentary Committee received at least 42 complaints from a whistle blower who said there is a cult-like group at the ministry that frustrates other workers.

Former Internal Security Organisation (ISO) chief Brigadier Henry Tumukunde has been sentenced to a “severe reprimand” by the General Court Martial, bringing the eight-year trial to a dramatic end. Tumukunde was this morning found guilty of behaving in a manner that is prejudicial to good order and discipline of the Uganda Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF).

He says the five member committee will be comprised of the chairman, secretary, mobilizer and two police officers.

Brigadier Henry Tumukunde faces dismissal from the army after the General Court Martial found him guilty of behaving in a manner that is prejudicial to good order and discipline of the force. The military court has however dismissed the charge of promoting harmful propaganda which carries maximum sentence of death o conviction. Court is adjourned to 3pm when the sentencing is expected.

The appointment of Engineer Godfrey Mutabazi as information minister has been viewed as being particularly strategic. In his speech, Kaliba warned the media especially radio stations in Fort Portal against being critical of the Kingdom. He said the new information minister will use his position as UCC Executive Director to crack down on radio stations which are critical of the kingdom.

Subjects of Tooro King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV want him to take full charge of his Kingdom as he turns 21 years. The 12th king of Tooro, born on April 16th 1992, has been on the throne since September 1995 when he succeeded his father Patrick David Mathew Kaboyo Olimi III, who died in August of that year. Until 2010 when King Oyo turned 18 years, he governed the Kingdom through regents.

Western Youth MP Gerald Karuhanga has given the five million shillings given to legislators as facilitation for consultations on the Marriage and Divorce Bill to youth groups.
