The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has dismissed two magistrates from the Judiciary after they were found guilty of corruption. Those dismissed include; Kisoro District Grade One Magistrate David Kaaye Cheptuke and Jinja Grade Two Magistrate, Okitwi Odutu.
The installation of Major Martin Kamya as cultural leader or Omudinganya of the Bamba community has been postponed for the second time. Major Kamya, a serving army officer, was slated to be installed as the leader of Obhudingiya Bwa Bwamba-OBB cultural institution in Bundibugyo district on Friday May 17th, but the ceremony has been cancelled.
The Appointments Committee of Parliament has kicked off the process of vetting 28 judges nominated to fill up positions at the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and the High Court. Chaired by Speaker Rebecca Kadaga, the closed door process is vetting ten judges for the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal.
Nakasongola is reeling from the discovery that a vaccine storage supervisor has disappeared with 19 gas cylinders meant for various health centres. The cylinders were used to power refrigerators that preserved vaccines for immunizing children and mothers.
