Members of Parliament have today queried the absence of all ministers and a big number of MPs on the NRM side in the afternoon session. Speaker Rebecca Kadaga suspended the afternoon session for 10 minutes as she waited for Ministers to show up. However, after over 30 minutes, only two junior Ministers, Musa Ecweru and the deputy Attorney General Fred Ruhindi, were in the House.

Army Redeploys Capt. Asiimwe To Northern Uganda 1

Captain Moses Asiimwe, the UPDF officer who was last month arrested in Somalia, has now been redeployed to 4th Division in Gulu district. Asiimwe was arrested and sent back to Uganda after he allegedly questioned Brigadier Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s rapid promotions. Muhoozi is President Yoweri Museveni’s son and commander of Special Forces Command (SFC), an elite force within the Uganda People’s Defence Forces.

There is still no information on the whereabouts of Lieutenant Joel Mutabazi, a former body guard to Rwandan President Paul Kagame, who was reportedly kidnapped in Kampala on Tuesday. Mutabazi, who worked as Kagame’s body guard for 20 years before falling out with the system, went missing from his United Nations High Commission of Refugees—UNHCR rented home in Kawempe, a Kampala suburb.

New Study Shows Decline In HIV Deaths In Uganda hiv/aids in uganda

A new HIV/AIDS study shows a decline in deaths in Uganda over a 20-year period when the epidemic grew in most other African countries. The study by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington, USA reveals that HIV/AIDS killed over 50,000 Ugandans in 1990, a figure that came down to 48,250 people in 2010. This trend is in sharp contrast to many other African countries such as Kenya, where deaths due to HIV/AIDS grew by more than 1700% in the same period.
