According to the preliminary results obtained from the electoral commission led by John Baptist Kawanga, Mao beat Dr. Michael Lulume Bayiga by a clear victory margin of 898 votes against Dr. Lulumes 360 votes to retain the top position in the party.

The Democratic Party DP has completed the purchase of a plot of land on which to construct party headquarters and plans to revive its newspaper The Citizen. Francis Okumu, the Lamwo HIV Focal Person says data collected from 23 health care facilities last year shows that among others 67 percent of the more than 134,000 people living in Lamwo now turn up at health centers to test as couples in Lamwo district against the national average of 50 percent.
