277 MPs voted in support of the Bill that amended Article 60 Clause 1 of the Constitution changing the name of the Electoral Commission to the Independent Electoral Commission. Only six MPs voted against the bill passing while one abstained in a session chaired by Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah.
The storming out also followed the majority National Resistance Movement NRM MPs voting in favor of the government constitutional amendment bill with 290 votes to 33 opposition votes. Only four MPs abstained at the vote.
