Two companies pinned by a Parliamentary committee in illegal sand mining activities are embroiled in a land wrangle. Seroma Investment Limited and Tesco Industries Limited are in a dispute over land boundaries where the companies have been mining sand in Lwera, Mpigi district.
Just a few Crane Bank branches upcountry operated normally today as Bank of Uganda announced the take-over of the countrys third largest bank.Today afternoon, the Bank of Uganda governor Prof.Emanuel Tumusiime Mutebile took control of the bank saying the continuation of Crane Bank activities in the current form is detrimental to the interests of its depositors.
At least 200 families are without shelter after a devastating storm ripped through Butenga and Kibinge sub counties in Bukomansimbi district leaving a trail of destruction. The most affected villages are Kamanda, Kiryamenvi, Kagogo, Katoma, Bbale and Buligita.

Girls are less likely than boys to complete schooling and more likely to face forced marriage, child labour, female genital mutilation and other undermining practices.
Uganda imports more than she exports, meaning the country receives less U.S. Dollars from exports compared to the amount of US Dollars spent on imports. As of August 2016, Ugandas trade deficit stood at 207 million U.S. Dollars, year-on-year.
