Referring to national public holidays as days that only benefit people in government, boda boda and taxi operators that Uganda Radio Network spoke to believe that they would be better off if national celebrations like International Labour Day were scrapped from the national public holiday calendar.

The labour officers argue that the lack of labour inspectors hinders the enforcement of labour laws. The Employment Act 2006 provides for labour inspectors in the districts.
