Although the DSC confirmed Mukasas appointment, Davis Dembe Beyeza, the then Kalungu Chief Administrative officer CAO declined to give Mukasa his appointment letter. Yesterday, August 15, Mukasa received his appointment letter as Kalungu district Education Officer.
Makerere University has finally demolished the illegal kiosks that have been serving cheap food to students. The demolition was done last week on the orders of the Universitys outgoing vice chancellor, Prof. John Ddumba-Ssentamu. This came just a day to the reopening of the new semester on Saturday.

The visitation committee investigating causes of strikes at Makerere University is to release its final report in a weeks time, Dr. Abel Rwendeire, the committee chairperson has said. The Rwendeire Committee commenced its work in November last year following the closure of the university at the height of strikes by staff and students. The staff laid down tools over unpaid incentives while students protested lecturers boycott of lectures.
