The Mufti of Uganda Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, has called on all Muslims in the country to use peaceful means to resolve their differences. His message was in reference to the Muslim clerics who were recently sentenced to life imprisonment by the International Crimes Division of High court for terrorism.
Although four of them believed that evidence presented by the National Super Alliance-NASA, was sufficient to nullify the outcome of the hotly contested race, two of their colleagues; Lady Justice Njoki Ndungu and Justice Jackton Ojwang dissented to the verdict.

Prof Andrew Elias State, the dean of the School of Social Sciences at Makerere University, has proposed establishment of a Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Education Fund to help the youth study peace and security in Africa. Activists and political leaders welcome the annulment of the August 8 presidential elections in Kenya saying it sets a big precedent for electoral democracy in Africa and the world in general.Kenyas Supreme Court this morning found that the electoral commission failed to conduct the polls according to the Constitution and Elections Act and that President Kenyatta was not validly elected on August 8. The judges ordered that fresh elections be held within 60 days.
As to whether there were irregularities and illegalities committed in the conduct of the 2017 Presidential Election, the court was satisfied that the 1st Respondent committed irregularities and illegalities inter alia, in the transmission of results, particulars and the substance of which will be given in the detailed and reasoned Judgment of the court. The court however found no evidence of misconduct on the part of the 3rd Respondent.
The proposal to amend article 26 of the Constitution, seeks to provide for the compulsory acquisition of land for development projects such as roads and other infrastructure, pending negotiations on compensation with the affected persons.

A third year student of law at Makerere University is still in police custody after being arrested on Thursday while President Yoweri Museveni spoke at the Nelson Mandela Lecture. Martin Musiime, also a Representative of Mitchell Hall to Makerere Students Guild Council, arrested by the Special Forces Command SFC soldiers inside the University Main Hall after he carried a poster with the word Leave Article 102b written on it. He lifted the poster as President Museveni stood up to give closing remarks to the Mandela lecture.
The traders, from Lamwo district, were transporting cattle, goats and sheep to Amach Market in Lira when their vehicle, a Fuso truck-registration number UAA 917A overturned at Aler, about 20 kilometres to Lira town. The incident occurred last night at about 10:30 p.m.
Uganda is host to the fastest-growing refugee crisis in the world. Since July last year, more than one million South Sudanese refugees have crossed into the country. The refugees are predominantly women and young people from farming or livestock herding communities in the war-torn country.
