Simon Shimanya pleaded guilty before the Nabweru Chief Magistrate, Patricia Amoko on Tuesday for the involuntary murder of his wife, 38-year-old Viola Kakai, a former nurse at International Hospital Kampala (IHK).
Stanbic said on Wednesday that the employee from “William Street Branch has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently undergoing treatment.” It added that “all exposed colleagues in the branch are undergoing tests and have been self-quarantined for 14 days.”
Denis Olweny, the Officer in Charge of Operations at Kalongo Police Station told URN in an interview on Tuesday that the deceased was first discovered by his brother who later alerted local leaders and the police. Olweny says preliminary reports indicate the deceased suffered depression.
Lt Gen Tumukunde was expected to appear before the directorate at 11 a.m. today. However, he sent lawyers; Friday Roberts Kagoro and Anthony Wameli to report his inability to show up on grounds that the summons was not clear. According to the lawyers, the said summons was copied to the Chief of Defence Forces yet Tumukunde is no longer a serving military officer.
