The decision came after Angelline Osegge the Soroti Woman MP alerted parliament that women who had discrepancies in their names from the academic transcripts and marriage certificates risked being locked out of the electoral process, yet it's a normal practice for women to abandon their maiden names after getting married.
Ragga Dee, the National Resistance movement –NRM party candidate is competing for the seat, for the second time, having lost to Erias Lukwago in 2016. He is the second musician to be nominated in the same race, after Joseph Mayanja, also known as Jose Chameleone, who was nominated on Wednesday.
In his ruling on the interim injunction on Thursday, Justice Wilson Masalu Musene said that since electoral activities are on-going, the nomination of candidates may continue provided that the Electoral Commission doesn't alter the boundaries.
The affected villages include; Kannunga, Rushese and Kizaano polling station in Rugusulu Sub county, in Mawogola North Constituency where supporters turned rowdy as they engaged in bitter alterations that resulted into fighting.
Similarly, NUPs Nabillah Nagggayi Ssempala and Independent candidate Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleon had mobilized their supporters to accompany them for the event attracting police action in and outside the normination centre.
