Dr. Joel Buzira a microbiologist at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) says they conducted a study at Mbarara hospital among pregnant women where they found women suffering from vaginal candidiasis were no longer responding to itraconazole and fluconazole.
Through mobile monitoring where researchers have placed devices on boda bodas around Kampala and Wakiso districts, Nantanda says they have found areas of Rubaga, Kawempe, Bweyogerere and Namugongo to have very bad quality of air, something that badly affects sensitive groups like children and the elderly of 70 years and above. She says Namugongo has had the worst measures among those areas.
James Elima, the Director of Gulu Regional Referral Hospital says COVID -19 vaccination uptake in Acholi Sub –Region still remains at only 45 percent despite the test positivity rate which is 7.6 percent, slightly higher than the national average.
Analysis of data reported from 25 countries finds that since March 2021, 1.3 million health workers were fully vaccinated, with just six countries reaching more than 90%, while nine countries have fully vaccinated less than 40%.
