The Energy Ministry has partnered with several organizations, including Planet Gold, Impact, and the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), to gazette mining areas and license the miners. Artisanal miners are encouraged to form groups and apply for Artisan and Small-scale mining licenses at a fee of 1 million shillings.
Human- wildlife conflict occurs both inside and outside the park for a various reasons including behavioral traits of the animal species, and communities illegally entering the park to access wild life resources like bush meat, but the most common is wild animal’s attraction to cultivated crops that are known to be richer in macronutrients and mineral salts than wild plants.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:00 a.m. when Kevira was playing near a grasshopper collection point. She accidentally touched a live electrical wire and was electrocuted.
