In 2011, the Ministry of Works and Transport through a donation worth 1.9billion shillings from the Lake Victoria Environment Management Project-LAVEMP, undertook to construct a permanent market in Lukaya town council for hundreds of roadside vendors who operate from the area.
Although the sunken area was assumed to bare a culvert which was thought to have been washed away or damaged, engineers at the end scene who have excavated within the hole and sideways note that have failed to trace the culverts.
The new regulations were issued by Abraham Tukundane, the Kalungu District Police Commander at a public security meeting convened in Lukaya Town Council.
According to the regulations, all bars and night club will start operating at between 4 pm and closes 2 am.
In addition, sports betting shops have also strictly been allowed to operate between 03pm and 10pm.
