Properties worth millions of shillings were on Sunday night burnt to ashes in a fire incident that gutted hotel Pan Afric in Lira town.
The fire that broke out at around 11:15 pm on Sunday reportedly is believed to have been sparked of by electricity power irregularity at the hotel.
A total of 19 Dodoth cattle rustlers have surrendered to Uganda Peoplesâ€™ Defence Forces (UPDF) in Kaabong district. The rustlers mainly from the Dodoth clan in Karamoja region have been living in South Sudan after they fled the country around 2007 at the height of the disarmament exercise.
Benjamin Okii, the proprietor of the ill fated workshop says that he lost 22 machines used for designing timber.
The fire outbreak that broke started around few minutes passed 1am on Saturday burnt numerous properties including several ready beds, chairs, raw timbers and 22 machines for designing timber.
During the campaign under the theme â€œFrom Peace in the Home to Peace in the World: Letâ€™s Challenge Militarism and End Violence against Women!â€ rural women are going to be screened and later treated for cervical cancer.
