Sulaiman Madada, the state minister in charge of the Elderly and Disabled people, wants fellow ministers Kahinda Otafiire and Aronda Nyakairima, to intervene in the escalating cases of Gender based violence in greater Masaka region.
The operation to stop fishermen using illegal gear has led to the arrest of four men from Malembo and Kalokoso landing sites in Bukakata Sub County, Masaka. The operation was led by the Fish Law Enforcement officers with the help of police.
At least 300 squatters have been ordered to vacate land and structures belonging to Buganda in Masaka, days after Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the return of the kingdom assets. A woman as Julian Nakacwa also known as Maama Julius has taken charge of much of Kaziru landing site. She has issued orders that fishing activities stop on the landing site and led to the razing down of a local entertainment centre as a harbour of sinfulness. She has also ordered for the closure of two schools because her preaching prohibits formal education.

A house fire has claimed yet another child. The incident occurred in Tekera village, Buwunga Sub County, in Masaka District. The latest victim is a three year old girl. Miraculously, her one and half year old brother Gonzaga Kintu survived the blaze.
Special Investigations Unit (SIU) police officers in Masaka have arrested four men believed to be behind a series of highway robberies, killings and recovered a pistol loaded with 4 rounds of ammunition.
