Stephen Wambewo, a farmer from Nabweya told Uganda Radio Network that he has always wanted to acquire good breeds of animals but he had failed because authorities ask him for money yet he thought it was free.
A team of police officers, who rushed to disperse the protesters failed to make it as their vehicle got stuck along Nyakabungo- Rugyeyo road. Their efforts to push the vehicle hit a snag forcing them to abandon it and run for over 10 kilometers to the scene of the protest only to find the residents had dispersed.
The arrest follows a presidential directive that the cattle owners whose animals have destroyed crops should compensate the victims of the destruction.
