William Onyai, the Gulu District Health Educator, says that the disease has remained a challenge noting that many people have failed to embrace Hepatitis B vaccination.
Speaking to journalists on Monday, officials of the Association said that they had received several reports that health workers are being forced into immunization with threats of withholding their pay in the wake of high abstinence by the initial target population.
Health ministry officials have been forced to change the original plan of vaccination to increase uptake of the vaccine. Originally, vaccination was supposed to start with health workers, teachers, security personnel, persons with co-morbidities and those aged 50 and above
But Stephen Otim, the Chairperson of Arapai Sub County head teachers association, says that teachers find it difficult to travel for more than ten kilometers to get the COVID-19 jab because they are busy trying to cover the syllabus.
