George Ocan, the District Secretary for Health disclosed that they have proposed activation of the work of the village structures and intensify surveillance and risk communication interventions to strengthen coordination.
The Institute’s Executive Director Dr Jackson Orem says they are revamping the lab using money acquired from the government of Uganda to cut down on expenditure by individuals who seek sophisticated tests from outside the region. He says that once it’s complete they will then be able to conduct all tests done for all types of cancers.
Sister Mildred Ategeka, a nun attached to Good Samaritan Sisters and one of the administrators of the Home notes that they have had numerous cases at the centre. She, however, says that currently four elderly people and one staff member are battling the virus.
