According to District Secretary for Health Justine Ocen, out of the total 810 teachers in the district, 638 had by the end of last week been vaccinated against COVID-19, with 192 already having received both the first and second jab.
Among the 300 beneficiaries is 2-year-old Raymond Lujja. Lujja battled with difficult urination for more than one year because he had a blocked urethra.
He explains that the hospital has so far received 1,000 children since it opened on April 15. Of these, 300 children have undergone surgeries. These surgeries were all successful, Menaldo emphasizes.
Dr. James Eyul, the head of Port Health on behalf of the health ministry, says close to ten people intending to travel Dubai have so far tested positive for COVID-19 at the airport. "But no one has tested positive on arrival in Dubai, which means our systems are working," Eyul says.
